10Firefighters Injured at Ground Zero

At least two firefighters were injured Thursday afternoon at Ground Zero in New York City. The men were struck by falling debris from a building. Authorities said the incident occurred shortly before 2 p.m. The firefighter's injuries are described as non-life threatening.

Police identified the woman shot and killed early Thursday near a Rochester school. Rochester police say someone shot 25-year-old Shalonda Simpson at around 2:15 a.m. in front of Adlai Stevenson School Number 29.

The state Public Service Commission voted unanimously to authorize National Grid's buyout of KeySpan. The deal, as agreed to last month, calls for a freeze on base gas delivery rates through 2012.

Woman Sentenced for Katrina Fraud

A Rochester woman convicted of stealing aid earmarked for hurricane Katrina victims is sentenced to probation and a fine. Rhonda Ellis will spend four years on probation, and will have to pay more than $21,000 in restitution.
Man Sentenced Under New State Law

A bliss man was sentenced on what is believed to be the first conviction on the state's new predatory assault law. A judge sentenced Brent Russell to 17 ½ years to life in prison. He was also sentenced to 20-years on rape charges, and 1 ¾ years on the charge of unlawful imprisonment.
Two Shot On Rochester's East Side

Police on Rochester's eastside responded to a double shooting Wednesday night. It happened around 9:30 pm. Police say one male was found with a gunshot would on Grand Avenue. Another was found on nearby Garson Avenue. One was shot in the cheek the other was shot in the hip.
Military Hero Returns Home
